Sentencing Matters
Criminal Law – Sentencing Matters
If you have pleaded guilty to an offence, the court will generally set a date in order to sentence you. Generally, incarceration (imprisonment) is only used as a last resort; there are a range of punishments which the courts may impose, including good behaviour bonds and community service.
The court is required to consider a range of matters when reaching a decision as to your sentence, things such as; your previous criminal history, your ties to the community, family support, likelihood of reoffending, etc.
The team at Benjamin & Dawson Lawyers is able to represent you in your sentencing hearing and make the application to the court as to the mitigating circumstances applicable to your situation, and therefore, get the best outcome possible for you.
